thank you to joy for confirming something we already knew but that some people can't accept
also i'm surprised at how nervous and shy seulgi is here considering this isn't the first time she's had to do this

It makes zero sense for Seulgi to become such a mess when all she had to do was speak about Irene as a member and send a heart - something she has done many many times already. I'm pretty convinced now that they're a couple, as in dating, because otherwise her reaction cannot be justified.

i definitely couldn't see her acting that way around another member. just curious, were you kinda on the fence about them being a couple?Guest wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 5:51 pm It makes zero sense for Seulgi to become such a mess when all she had to do was speak about Irene as a member and send a heart - something she has done many many times already. I was. I never doubted there were feelings involved but I could never be sure if they are actually a couple or toeing the line yknowGuest wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 11:18 pmi definitely couldn't see her acting that way around another member. just curious, were you kinda on the fence about them being a couple?Guest wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 5:51 pm It makes zero sense for Seulgi to become such a mess when all she had to do was speak about Irene as a member and send a heart - something she has done many many times already. Guys.. Im looking for a seulrene fanfic I read long back. It was probably on aff, but could be ao3 too not sure. All I remember from the fic is Irene wearing a S shaped pendant which got noticed by fans and sparked dating rumors. She was called by SM management and ask to confirm or deny. She said she's in a relationship but didn't specify with who. Of course the pendant was a gift from Seulgi.
If anyone has any idea about it pls let me know

I was already 90% sure for myself that they were something but now I'm convinced 100% that they are a couple. What a journey because I wasn't into shipping them before Jeju lol.Guest wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 5:51 pm It makes zero sense for Seulgi to become such a mess when all she had to do was speak about Irene as a member and send a heart - something she has done many many times already. I’m always fluctuating between they’re 100% real and maybe they’re just in a homoerotic friendship. Hate to admit it but some of my doubts were from them not really hanging out in their personal time but we now know that they could just be really lowkey. Another thing that makes me doubt is whenever Seulgi says Irene is like a real sister to her or vice versa but then I delude myself into thinking that they’re trying not to be suspicious. Right now I’m leaning towards them being together but I’m also trying to temper my expectations.

It's funny how Irene didn't sense the moment Seulgi moved
on the other hand, she can sense when something is going to fall or when someone is going to touch her

I’ve been following them since 2017. I have always told myself that shipping is just for fun. But after Jeju and especially this era, I can’t think straight anymore TT-TT. The bit from Human Theater, like what the heck is that? And in the Tingle interview, Seulgi said that Irene is like a sister and a friend..this is the first time I’ve seen her call Irene a friend because yall know how strict Koreans are with their age hierarchy. And Seulgi even admitted that they know each other best…which is also the first time she admitted something like that. Something definitely shifted after Jeju but recently it seems like somethinf shifted again…..

I know that unnie means "older sister", but I have seen that women call their older boyfriends "oppa" and it means older brother too. So, I was wondering if this works in a lesbian couple, like the younger woman calls the older gf "unnie" too ?Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 4:50 am I’ve been following them since 2017. In Korean culture, the term "친구" (chingu) typically refers to someone who is the same age or a peer. It would be unusual and potentially seen as disrespectful for someone younger to refer to an "언니" (unnie), which means "older sister" (used by females to address older females), as "chingu."
The relationship dynamics in Korean culture place significant importance on age hierarchy and respect. Younger individuals are expected to show respect to those older than them, and using the term "chingu" might imply a level of familiarity and equality that is not culturally appropriate for an older person.
Instead, younger individuals should refer to their older female friends or sisters as "unnie" to show respect.

I'm also kind of like this though I guess I'm more on the homoerotic friendship side? I just think there's a lot of quiet unspoken tension and awkwardness like underlying stuff because of how much they like each other, plus how others react to them all the time? And they actively avoid it. I do think they see each other as like family to an extent but also since they've been close for so long a lot of their interactions leave me wondering what they're actually like off work no cameras just the two of them. I can't fathom it.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 1:44 pmDaGuestoris wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 5:30 amI was already 90% sure for myself that they were something but now I'm convinced 100% that they are a couple. Guest wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 10:54 am I can't get over Irene enjoying that whole thing, old Irene would legit just freak out and stop it all. She sat there staring sideways all happy, usually i'm a negative nancy but i can't get over that whole thing.

There’s pre-jeju and post-jeju
Then there’s pre-fmr and post-fmr
Now there’s a new height of pre-europe and post-europe

Da I was also someone who leaned more towards a homoerotic friendship but now I am certain something has changed. Like other anons pointed out, even in the last cb I couldn't imagine Seulgi being so openly nervous and specially Irene being so bold all of a sudden. I know for sure if it was old them then they would've done their best to act nonchalant about it for the sake of maintaining professionalism. Also the members essentially calling them out is new. Yes they teased them previously a couple times, we know Yeri couldn't control her expression but to actually say out loud that they have a very deep relationship? That's new. On top of that Seulgi confirmed it.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 5:43 amI'm also kind of like this though I guess I'm more on the homoerotic friendship side? I also can't fathom how they act in private but I also noticed that for the first time ever Seulgi referred to Irene as a chingu. That's a huge deal. My guess is privately they are more casual around each other which is evident in the level of comfort they're showing nowadays.

Unnie is a polite way of addressing someone older specially if you're in some formal setting. I know it literally translates to sister in English but in korean it doesn't always mean you actually see the person as a sister. Iirc couples do tend to refer to each other as unnie/oppa, whatever applies, if the situation calls for it. This is not just limited to korea btw. A few asian countries do this. Like in Thailand you have phi/nong for older/younger. Every couple is different though and how they address each other varies.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 5:09 amI know that unnie means "older sister", but I have seen that women call their older boyfriends "oppa" and it means older brother too. Sometimes based on the members reactions it seems to me that Yeri is the only one who's aware of seulrene's actual relationship status.

I think the other two know only to a certain extent but considering she’s the closest to both of them and actually hang out with them outside of work, Yeri would know deeper shit she even took sides during thw whole fmr fiasco lolGuest wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 1:37 pm Sometimes based on the members reactions it seems to me that Yeri is the only one who's aware of seulrene's actual relationship status.

Visited lchat after a long time and someone dropped a little info. Take it with a HUGE grain of salt.

"According to an acquaintance who is a current idol, there's news that there are quite a few lesbian couples among Korean female idols."
The phrase "은근하단" implies that these relationships are somewhat secretive or not openly discussed, but they exist to a noticeable extent within the industry.
