Saw the tour announcement just now. I want to put my thoughts out but I hope this is not taken negatively against either Irene or Seulgi. Personally I am a little disappointed. As much as I love their solos, I really do, I was very excited for Aseul. I was hoping for a Japanese comeback or tour because to me they are at their best when they perform as a unit. Their performance chemistry is what has always drawn me towards them.

We also know for a fact that Seulgi has been vocal about wanting to do a solocon since ages now. So it kinda seems a little unfair that all of a sudden Irene got one, while Seulgi was genuinely looking a bit off during her birthday party.

I don't know what's going on behind the scenes. SM always changes plans to suit their needs, that's nothing new and we as fans will never be privy to those informations. I would also not blame either of the girls nor will I try to make public posts on other platforms criticizing them. They're grown women, they know what to do with their career. However as a fan the announcement was something unexpected and I don't really know how to be hyped about it. Add to that, Irene's Biggest Fan teasers have not been able to hook me as much as LAF did. So yeah... Not a great time to be an aseul fan I guess.

I agree there's something going on behind the scenes that we will never know about because if you look at this from a logical standpoint it makes absolutely no sense for Irene to get a solo con at this point in time. Wouldn't it make more sense to have a concert after 3 albums and more solo performances at events to better establish herself as a solo artist?

I'm so confused by all of this especially since aseul built up such good momentum despite making fans wait for 5 years for a comeback which, by all intents and purposes, was successful in the face of controversy and boycotts. People made sure to let them know they would show up for them so why throw all that away for a gamble? Because let's be honest, aseul is one of the last standing pillars of this dying fandom and this decision will absolutely tear it down.

The worst part for me is that it kinda looks like Irene is throwing Seulgi under the bus in favor of herself? I dont want to believe she would do that but, as of right now, it's hard to come to any other conclusion and that really hurts my heart. It throws everything I thought I knew about her character out the window.

I dont know how willing this board is in discussing this but I feel there's a conversation to be had here. I'm assuming we're all fans first before we we are shippers and care deeply enough about these people to point out when something is not right instead of ignoring the problems and glazing them all the time.

Please dont take anything I said as an attack. I have loved them both equally for a long time. This doesn't make me hate irene and never will but I would be lying if I said nothing has changed. I would love to know what other anons think.

I feel calmer now that I’ve processed all of this. I don’t think any idol would reject a tour or a solocon if they got the offer, it's like the ultimate Idol dream and I wish her the best during those dates. However, it feels kinda bittersweet because I thought Irene would do the same as Seulgi after her cb, but it is what it is.

Also, if the Aseul Japan tour is still a thing, I honestly don’t know how Irene’s gonna make it work with all the practices after her tour, especially since her stamina hasn’t improved. Lowkey, I don’t even want it to happen, I know she’s gonna give her best energy to her tour and go all out promoting it. And I don’t want the JP tour to feel half-assed just for the sake of doing it. I want the Japanese fans, and everyone who traveled there, to leave with a good memory after experiencing the Balance concerts.

As for Seulgi, I just hope she chooses wisely.

The Japan tour was a rumour shared by anons on the other board. Of course I always take what they say with a grain of salt but the Irene solo tour ended up being true so... it's safe to say they know things.

I'm not upset at Irene having a tour in general and maybe I'm being dramatic but it's the delay/ cancellation of the unit and the way seulgi looked genuinely gutted during her bday party indicating this change of plans wasn't something she was on board with that is rubbing me (and other aseul stans) the wrong way. There are a lot of factors to this but I'm very bad at articulating myself and don't trust that I can explain it well without leading to misunderstandings.

For now I'm still giving her the benefit of the doubt and choosing to believe all this is SM being the garbage that they are and using Irene to pressure Seulgi during contract negotiations. We know SM doesn't like the RV girls being successful and Tilt was very much successful considering how dead the overall fandom is. We will have to wait and see what happens

As a die hard Aseul stan I'm also upset but I can't fathom calling either of them names like others have been doing on the other board. I know there are probably akgaes also stirring the pot in between the anons making valid points but if you ever considered yourself an Aseul fan and are participating in the name calling that's crazy to me.

I agree with you but apart from that one aseul stan that is very close to becoming a seulgi akgae I think most of them are just saying they're done and wishing Irene the best. All the name calling is coming from people who already hated Irene but the difference is now there's no one left to shut it down. Everyone is still emotional and processing too, It will hopefully stabilise in the coming days.
The whole thing is just sad. I don't see how we can come back from this

DA Of course it could be a million different reasons. I ship them but I also like to be realistic and no I am not saying that whenever Seulgi or Irene is sad it's because of the other one. However, I will say a few things. We know Seulgi was very excited about whatever Aseul related activities they had planned. It is not far fetched to think if it was a sudden change then she could be annoyed. From what some spoiler anons were saying on the other board and based on Seulgi's own reactions, my guess was Aseul was supposed to happen early even if it's not in Q1. SM is known to fuck up schedules but at some point it gets tiring. I will still say we don't know what's going on behind the scenes. Maybe this is how it was planned, or maybe Seulgi will get another album and then we'll have Aseul or maybe the plans for Aseul have been scrapped off. We don't know.

Bottom line is, as a fan, I was really looking forward to whatever Aseul activity it was. My personal preference has always been Aseul>I/S as soloists>Group. So yes this right now was a bummer.

I will keep supporting them both but it will be a lie if I say my excitement hasn't dimmed.

For me, I needed some time to digest everything. My initial reaction was different too. I’ll admit I held a bit of a grudge against Irene, because we can’t ignore that Seulgi’s activities are now looking different after this last-minute change. But that’s just what we see on the surface. Like you said, we don’t actually know what’s going on in their private lives. I’m also not going to ignore all the receipts and tea we’ve seen, it’s probably way more complicated than we can fully understand.

For now, I’ll base it on Seulgi’s and Irene's attitude moving forward. I’ll still support them, but yeah.. I’ll be watching closely and collecting evidence like I always did.

Rant incoming. I’m gonna be honest, everyone here is super nice and sane but the level of conspiracy theories, misogyny, and outright hatred for member(s) is really scary and makes me not really want to be a luvie if that’s how the fandom is. Those same ppl on that board make up the RV twit users etc. Ik anons might say it’s only this subfandom or that subfandom, but at the end of the day that’s what’s left of RV fans and it’s definitely not what I wanna be apart of. I’ll still be a fan and visit here but that negativity and toxic drama is a good way to drive away normies from engaging about RV online and it makes me sad since the girls didn’t do anything to deserve that level of hatred for a unit they worked hard for.

Personally I still support them both fully as aseul/SR and their individual selves. Irene getting this last minute proves there’s something going on with Seulgi on the backend. I’ve seen to many receipts and things over the years for how they care for one another to believe Irene isn’t talking to Seulgi about all this and this isn’t happening without her in the loop. Seulgi said to wait and look forward so I trust she knows best and has plans.

Aseul took 5 years to come back from the dead, that company can’t be trusted to do right by the unit. So if this is what the girls are doing right now I’m okay with patiently waiting to see what unfolds, i don’t want a rushed aseul cb full of garbage. My theory is SM is in negotiations with Seulgi and instead of doing media play like they did w/ Irene this is the situation we’re getting. Only time will tell but I really would bet money there’s a lot more to the story. Ppl can have their pov, but 15+ years of whatever SR has doesn’t just evaporate overnight. Anons can disagree and say I’m being dumb or naive. But ig we’ll see. Either way I’m weirdly excited to see how the year plays out, seems like anything could happen.
