I've been following Seulrene since 2016 so these things are not new. It was worse back then in 2017-18. They started distancing themselves and prob. because of the growing fanbase. I felt I've lived of on the most miniscule of interactions but it made me a lot more sus than ever cause of it. What happened to seulrene/aseul in 2020 was a new world. I even thought they would get back to normal eventually since they're just promoting & they can cover up their married interactions as fanservice. Avoiding eye contact was a such a thing with seulrene since (it was hot & cold too). . so them being like this in 2022 didn't really bothered me as such. I'm sorry if I ever offended anybody with this. I've noticed that my understanding of seulrene is really different from others perspective of them. After the Jeju thing, they started to loosen up but from what I see they're still so protective on how they interact in public. I'm trying to understand your perspective in this that's why I asked if I missed something but thank you for telling

Da There's difference before and after Jeju. The old fandom used to jest that they were the "tragic ship" because they looked good together but had limited moments. Heck, even WR had more moments than them. Back then, I didn't find their dynamic suspicious. They seemed constrained by age dynamics, which no longer seem to apply. It feels like Seulgi has gained more control, and Irene allows her, something she didn't do before. They appear more equal, and "unnie" now feels more like a nickname rather than an honorific. As for something that must have been missed, it was simply DreamCon. I'm relieved it's over, and they're so so much happier now. The glow from their happiness together goes beyond my phone screen.

This is true. there was really a shift. So as an old sr fan, every interaction is such a blessing to me and I'm just taking it all in. Most of the time, I get so confused (or shock?) because of how they're really loose and a lot warmer compared to back then.

You didn't offend anyone, but there's a difference between them being distant in public because they might be uncomfortable fanservicing in public or for whatever reason because they do that a lot and any longtime fan is used to it, and the completely off vibes they were having post fmr. That ott awkwardness and odd behavior was too glaring not to notice. They have always had that ease even if they don't interact. And even if you didn't pick up on it then, dreamcon was too in your face. Seulgi would never ignore Irene crying on stage, we've seen how she acts when Irene is sick or uncomfortable. Plus the way Irene avoided her and almost stumbled doing it was also too obvious. And unpopular opinion, I'm someone who likes and ships them but don't think they're together or anything and even I don't believe it was due to debut stress or whatever professional excuse most believe caused it.

I would also agree that Seulgi would never ignore Irene crying on stage. Though I'm not sure if I should share this because I wasn't able to bookmark or ever searched it back and I don't have a proof on it. It's hangul so it's hard to search (please take it with a grain of salt) but from what I read on one of those curious cat kind of things but for koreans in twitter where people would ask question and they would answer. Someone mentioned that they saw Seulgi was trying to comfort Irene when they went off stage. I was also concerned, was curious and started digging though the moment I read the tweet, I had this sigh of relief but I didn't looked back on it. A lot of kluvies thought that Irene started crying because of the overwhelming cheer +crowd (coz covid, no crowd in a long time). These are only from what I read back then it was live happening. So the way I understand on what happened on dream con was really different.

Da I've never come across that sort of fanacc. The overwhelming thing is what Irene said on bubble and well, many believed it, many didn't. I do agree that Seulgi is not someone who doesn't move to comfort Irene if she's not okay in any way and that day it wasn't just Seulgi but even Yeri looked like she's taking sides.

I'll still say I don't think it was any major beef because I remember during the FMR performance in dreamcon Irene's mic pack came off and Seulgi had tried to help but at the same time they were also kinda avoiding each other. Hot and cold was the best way to put it.

Da I personally think they have such a soft spot for each other that even when they’re pissed at one another one would always be hovering around to make sure the other is still okay so it just comes off awkward lol we’d never see them be hot and hot or cold and cold at the same time

Anon, thank you. I never saw this before. That's why dreamcon was much more complicated than what i thought. Both seulgi and irene would spontaneously help each other even on cam when needed. Just like how seulgi would cover irene's ears or irene hold seulgi food from fall (aseul lup). I personally think both of their minds were messy at this time. I had lots of thought about this including shitM mess with them. But, yeah glad we past it.

As their fan since SM rookies, I think it’s hard for both of them to admit their true feeling toward each other espcially how they are always see each other as best friend/best sis in a long times. In 2017-2018 they became weird, keep distance to each other but still close when no camera around, but of course if you stan them since debut you will see a whole different between them before 2017 and them after Jeju and after 2022. Maybe Seulgi realize she really love Irene in 2017-2018 but too scare to admit that you had a crush for a girl and that girl is yours soulmate, she struggle to accept her true feeling so that why i think she keep distance with Irene around that time. Same with Irene, but she can easily accept her feeling more than Seulgi because she used to crush her purple friend, and she always show an attracted toward women so i think she don’t feel weird when she had the feeling for a girl, but of course non of them dare to risk their career and more important is they didn’t want to ruin the long times friends. But the hole thing change after #1022 happen and i think the time they got in Jeju help them realize how much they really love each other and well maybe they had a confession, that’s why Seulgi keep telling about Jeju even after 3 years. About the changing from friends to lover thing it makes me remember the old vid of Yeri pushing Seulgi to say she would like to date someone she has been friend with for a long time. And Irene smiling next to her hearing Seulgi's response.
