Da I don't either. Correcting or clarifying something doesn't translate to me as someone who is trolling.
What I do see is anon/s that's adamant on seulrene are incapable of dating each other based on reading opinions though.

DA For me it's not that I think they're incapable of dating it's I just always felt like they weren't. Doesn't mean I don't ship it. It doesn't have to be half heart design to be matching item, yk one person got another half heart and the other got another half.. But it becomes harder to explain now that Seulgi has been out of the dorm for ages now. Like even if they shop together it is odd to buy the same thing the other person is buying when going shopping. Like do they just have access to each other’s closets?

DA for me it's the INTENT over the actual matchy-ness. Idols get a lot of sponsored items and RV is no exception because occasionally you'll see Yeri or Wendy or Joy have the same items as seulrene but to go out and buy two pairs of things, coordinate outfits and openly be pictured wearing the same items often not far apart in terms of timeline, or even at the same time, is to me, a bit intentional? If they weren't two women people would immediately find it suspicious. So many idols share the same items bc brands give them out but these two people specifically are constantly pictured having matching stuff? it's a bit weird. I mean we've even seen Seulgi's closet and there's a LOT of things

da i think in relation to this, as a shipper i find myself in a funny place where before, a lot of the unusual stuff about them can be written off as just them living together in the dorm or them being the “pushed duo” so it felt a lot more fun to ship them in that delusional way. but these days, those factors no longer exist and the way they’ve been around each other is just genuinely SO WEIRD to me that instead of being delusional i often find myself trying to rationalize why they act the way they do even if their dynamic recently is just not normal friend behavior. it makes me feel absolutely insane.

idk since friends and family do couple items too like Irene does with her purple friend for eg. to me there's enough room to believe at the very least they're very close and got closer over time. but the amount of items + how weird they are around each other is what makes it a bit more sus

Well, I need to point out a few things: firstly, seulrene was considered a tragic ship, so there was no intention of pairing them up, nor did they make any effort to do so, so to read that the company devised a whole storyline for them so perfectly makes me laugh. Wr has always been and still is the team's choice for them.

What's more, the “sponsored couple” thing ended up becoming an inside joke in the fandom, after all, they wear couple items even from brands that aren't sponsored. There's nothing to stop them acting so strangely as a couple. (lowkey not rrrrrreally lowkey)

Even so, in Korea it’s normal to see couples dressing the same or similarly with matching outfits. It's not a rule that it has to be the same, it just has to be very similar. But it's clear that being the same increases credibility a lot.
I could list a thousand more unusual behaviors for female co-workers, but one of the most recent was Pepero Day. They posted almost the same thing on the bbl, and this day is very special for Korean couples.



Some say they started dating (officially) during the R to V tour that took place in 2023, but take it as a grain of salt.

Well, I need to point out a few things: firstly, seulrene was considered a tragic ship, so there was no intention of pairing them up, nor did they make any effort to do so, so to read that the company devised a whole storyline for them so perfectly makes me laugh. Wr has always been and still is the team's choice for them.

there's a couple things I want to address with this since I've seen it said so much (and I don't think these things have to be taken in a negative light or a "omg SM totally made this ship for pr" way at all):

1. It's factually inaccurate to say there was no intention of pairing seulrene up or that there was no effort when pairing them up is what allowed red velvet to even happen in the first place. They got paired as rookies and after debut they also did photoshoots together and were often paired up in the group photoshoots. The subunit wouldn't have happened if SM had no intent to pair them together when it's clear they saw the potential. But at the same time I'd also say SM dropped the ball on actually capitalising on them enough.

2. SM does fluff up and exaggerate stories all the time and it's not a crime for people to point out many of the popular pairings have similar stories like they've known each other the longest etc. but I personally don't see much similarities beyond what fans project and the similarities in stories is because the SM training process hasn't changed. There's usually people in every group that are somewhat closer than the others because they knew each other the longest while others came and left. The idea that SM would make up a story for people to buy into when they have so much natural chemistry already is pretty ridiculous. They do lay on some stuff thick though and I think it's good for fans to be somewhat skeptical of what they're being fed but they could have said they just met and hit it off and people would still ship it. It doesn't take much.

3. Since RV aren't much into fanservice and skinship I wouldn't say WR were even a choice. I mean apart from the cosmic MV what was there really? where are their photoshoots? where are their interviews or stories etc.

This is just my opinion. I understand why seulrene is called a tragic ship but I wouldn't 100% agree that SM didn't push them to any extent.
