First the Blue Is the Warmest Color poster on her wall, and now the Call Me By Your Name vinyl sitting on the left. Call me delulu, but I honestly don’t think a straight person would have both of these visibly displayed in their home — at the very least, it’s safe to say Seulgi is an ally. You don’t casually feature queer films in your decor unless they mean something to you.
Now, I know people say these films are often more popular among straight audiences (and personally, I’m not even a fan of BITWC), but I keep circling back to the core of Call Me By Your Name. That question at the heart of it:
“Is it better to speak or die?”
Is it better to pour your heart out — confess your real feelings — even if it risks rejection, or is silence and emotional repression less painful?
I found the couch scene incredibly moving. Especially when the father says:
“You two had a beautiful friendship. Maybe more than a friendship. And I envy you. In my place, most parents would hope the whole thing goes away… and pray their sons land on their feet. But… I am not such a parent.”
That line just won’t leave me. I can’t help but draw parallels to Irene & Seulgi’s relationship. Just what if — Seulgi has truly struggled with that very question herself? Between a deep friendship with Irene… or potentially feeling something more?
Maybe this film speaks to her because it reflects something personal. Maybe it resonates with her on an emotional level we don’t see. And maybe that’s why she keeps it around. Or… it could just be that she genuinely loves the soundtracks (which, let’s be honest, is incredible).
I know I might be reading into things too much, especially since the movie itself is still controversial. But the message it had has a beautiful message that stuck with me.
What do you guys think?

I'm a lesbian and I like CMBYN because of the soundtrack. The cinematography is beautiful as well. The couch scene for me is very reflective. I can relate to Elio's pain at the end of the movie with my first wlw breakup because lez be honest, it's really that bad for most of us
We know that Seulgi likes that yearning shit. So maybe she can relate to it or she simply likes the aesthetic. We can be sure that she is an ally though.
Off-topic I think TILT didn’t really hit for most non-fans on the first listen, and since the MV wasn’t as impactful as MONSTER, they didn’t bother giving it another shot. I feel kinda bad for it, because TILT is like ZIMZALABIM or a great techno song.

No lie I was thinking about this macau trip yesterday and how they never told us the circumstances of being on the same trip. Like, did seulgi and her cousin plan to go to macau at some point and when seulgi found out irene's team was shooting there, she picked the same date? Or maybe seulgi had free time and wanted to go to macau to support irene but invited her cousin so it would make things less suspicious....?

da seulgi and irene in macau was after happiness fancon, so it's not really that much of a surprise to see them together there. i assume you probably meant hong kong, how aseul went together with seulgi's cousin and the staff members.
but yea, looking through seulgi's traveling vlogs and whatnot, she likes to go with or without others and most likely thought it'd be good to take irene on a trip around hk and did a little tour for her before they parted (seulgi hanging out with her cousin, and irene most likely doing the shoot for LAF or otherwise). based on what we know, irene doesn't travel often for fun, so i thought it was sweet that seulgi took the time to take her around and made a trip out of it

Yes it’s been so long I forgot the details. I just found it a little odd that seulgi never really explained how her trip there came about unless I missed it. I mean she first tried to say that she went to jeju with ‘members’ to support wendy and then the story switched to wanting to take pretty pictures. But I guess it’s a good thing she can pass it off as a spontaneous trip
