I’m an Aseul fan who’s always been more Irene biased, so I was genuinely excited for the unit comeback after all these years. The trucks were awful, but at first I didn’t think too much of it because I assumed Irene wouldn’t care or change her behavior over that, even if she wasn’t posting much about the unit's comeback.
Then the comeback happened and little by little things just started feeling off. The Tilt phone case was thrown almost immediately, Irene saying she wanted to go home to everyone willing to listen. Then there were no posts about the unit, then the mini fanmeeting where Irene invited the other member and the whole thing was disrespectful from everyone involved. It was as if Irene couldn't handle a fanmeet with just Seulgi, but we ignored it and moved on.
Then the tour got announced and again, no promotion from Irene’s side. The tour started and there were moments where she felt really distant from Seulgi going as far as separating from her and kept only posting herself. And i still gave grace when people pointed it out and made excuses. But then Irene’s solo comeback happened and suddenly she was openly hyping her own work, promoting her tour, engaging with fans and showing excitement and we learn she was working on it while Tilt was happening, and then there were all the moments involving the other member and doing everything the trucks and those fans wanted.
At some point it becomes hard to just pretend you’re not seeing things.
And I think what some people don’t understand is that not everyone criticizing this is some irrational hater or anti. Some of us just aren’t in the mindset of treating idols like they’re above criticism. If Seulgi was the one acting this way, I’d say the exact same thing about her too.
What frustrates me is that instead of actually discussing this behavior or countering the points being made, the response is mostly just name calling the other side, accusations, and acting like anyone disappointed is crazy or malicious. I’d genuinely love for someone to actually argue the opposite side properly instead of just dismissing people outright.
Because at least from my perspective, I’m not insulting Irene or calling her names. I’m talking about her own actions and i'm disappointed.
Yeah, i think what hurts most is not only is this behavior not giving "normal" Irene we are used to, but also, as lesbians (since most here come from the l chat), it hurts more, since well TILT was very lesbian forward and irene doing everything to distance herself from that and Seulgi (who admitted to be involved in the concept), hurts more personally i guess? Which is why, in the beginning, it was worth to give people more grace in their strong reactions, but now its just hating and trolling a lot of times, on both sides and that sucks.
I have nothing to "counter" argue your points, cause i agree with you and i hate either of them. Maybe my personal perspective of Irene was just falls and i had/have to come to terms with that or maybe after this solo promotion, she will be back to normal, who knows, either way, this sucked.
Is addressing how Irene has been pushing the other ship hard not allowed? It's the biggest elephant in the room and very much relevant to what's happening.

I am never the type to be bothered by coworkers interacting or entertaining pushy shippers, i have never cared but what's happening lately is sinister. The way it's done is borderline deliberate and looks targeted. All of a sudden Irene is claiming the other member is the most reliable, how Seulgi looked out of place when they visited Irene, she was ignored altogether, the OTT fanservice to please Chinese fans.. doesn't look good for everyone involved. But SM is still to this moment not allowing Cfans to have the upper hand, yes they're pushing their idols there more because there's money but it stops there. And i'm not coming from a malicious place or anything, so if this was Irene just giving her Cfans more fanservice and doing more for them because they're her biggest support i would genuinely never fault for her that. It's business and this is her income, but to allow this level of control and to let it affect her personal relationships and how she carries herself is out of character and too much. I understood back then how she didn't say anything about the trucks and even defended her on twitter for choosing to ignore them, but i never expected that her silence was an endorsement for what the trucks said.

Da Honestly, sometimes I think they’re just being more low-key. Irene knows her fans hate Seulgi. Maybe it’s about protecting Seulgi herself. Jieqis would throw Irene to the wolves if she dared to disobey them.
Seulgi went on a trip with her cousin; she's looking quite peaceful. Perhaps the source who said they were trying to reconcile is actually reliable.
